Janelle's Success

the buff mom boot camp cambridge

Push-ups from her toes. Taking part in 5 K races. Enjoying a healthy and clean lifestyle.

These are just some of the perks to Janelle’s amazing transformation. This mother of three has dropped 31-inches, is wearing pre-baby clothes, and looks amazing!

“I'm about a size 8, which is the closest I've been to my before-children size in 6 years!” exclaims Janelle.

How did she do it? Read more to find out.

TBM - What was the turning point for you when it came to your weight?

Janelle - I thought that after having my first baby I would bounce right back and fit into my old clothes. I read that breastfeeding would help accelerate your weight-loss. While this may be true for some women, it was not true for me. Frustrated, I had to buy new clothes in a size that I had never been before. Weight loss methods I had tried before were not working. I needed to try something different.

TBM - What old habits were holding you back?

Janelle - For me, it wasn't about having bad habits, it was about cleaning up my diet and working out smarter. I learned how to be satisfied by eating a clean, low-carb, no added sugar diet. You consume much more sugar than you think! I used to spend a long time just on the elliptical machine, when HIIT (high intensity interval training) is so much more effective and efficient.

TBM - Describe how you felt after your first class?

Janelle - After my first class, I was hooked. Even though it took me until I parked my car at home for my heart rate to slow down, I thought, “I can do this!” I loved that Leslie gave options for beginners and encouraged us to do as much as we could. "Just keep moving" was suggested several times in that first class.

TBM - What lessons have you learned about yourself through this process?

Janelle - I have a hard time accepting complements; I am incredibly hard on myself and that I'm pretty competitive. Also, mind-set is so important. Surround yourself with positive people, post your goals, and as Leslie says, with every small set-back and the weeks where you don't see any movement, point your canoe forward and just keep paddling.

TBM - What advice do you have for others who are where you were when you started?

Janelle - There's no easy button when it comes to weight/inch loss, but being part of a supportive community, being accountable to someone with attendance and measurements will definitely make you feel like you're not alone. You will work hard, you will challenge yourself and you will see results. It is so worth it!

Awesome job Janelle, we are so proud of you!
