Down 35.5"

The Buff Mom Cambridge Kitchener Waterloo Guelph Fitness

This Guelph mother of two has gone through an amazing transformation. Allison Palis has dropped 35.5 inches since joining The Buff Mom Boot Camp. She credits Buff Mom classes, videos, and a mindset shift for her success. Here is what she had to say about her accomplishment.

L - What was the turning point for you when it came to your weight?

A - I was the heaviest I'd been in my life - I weighed as much as when I was 9 months pregnant with my son! I didn't feel good and was tired all the time. I was starting to get out of breath going up stairs.

L - What old habits were holding you back?

A - Thinking that I didn't have time and money to exercise, night snacking, big meal portions.

L - Describe how you felt after your first class?

A - Really out of shape! But also inspired by the other women in the class who had busy lives and families and still carved out the time to work out.

L - What are you doing now that you never thought possible when you started?

A – Wearing certain clothes and running five kilometres again, just like in my pre-baby days. Push ups and planks from the toes! Being OK wearing a bathing suit again & going to the pool with my kids. Not putting my kids in front of me when having my picture taken to hide my stomach. I’m also not dreading shopping for clothes. I actually kind of enjoy it now!

L - What lessons have you learned about yourself through this process?

A - That I can do it! Also, that I have to make health a priority, and I don't have to starve myself to lose weight.

L - What's next?

A - Run a 10 kilometre race and get into a bikini?!

L - What advice do you have for others who are where you were when you started?

A - No one can tell you what will work for you, you have to figure it out yourself. You have to be ready for change and be prepared to be consistent. (But if there's a week or two that you miss some workouts or have pizza, it's OK! Just get back into it and make healthy options the norm.) In the words of Audrey Hepburn, "Nothing is impossible: the word itself says 'I'm possible'!"

A big thank you to Courtney for being an amazing instructor and keeping me motivated, to Leslie and her team for those great home workouts that keep me going when I'm not at class, and to my friends and family for supporting me, stepping in to do child care, and for being my cheerleaders - I feel so blessed!

L – Awesome job Allison, we are so proud of you!
